» What is fibroblast grafting ?
This is a self rejuvenating technique using your own skin cells, multiplied millions of times and re-injected into the ageing skin areas » How is the skin sample obatined ?A small round piece of skin is harvested from behind the ear under local anaesthesia, without any pain. The skin behind the ear is minimally exposed to the sun and the little incision made is closed with glue, needing no suture and leaving no visible scar. » Where are the cells produced ?The skin biopsy is sent to a Laboratory of high technical, quality and security standards. After receiving the skin sample, the laboratory isolate the fibroblasts, specific cells producing collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin. Part of these cells are then frozen and kept in a cell bank for later use, thus allowing future treatments with "young" cells. The rest are placed in incubator and allowed to multiply. This process takes 3 months. Once the maximum number of cells is achieved (in most cases more than 90 million cells per treatment), the laboratory sends them back to the doctor to be re-injected. A second batch of cells then start multiplication, to be reinjected 2 months later.
» What's the process during the injection session ?Local anaesthesia is applied (topical Emla cream for one hour followed, if necessary, by Xylocain injections) making the procedure almost pain free. The cells are then re-injected in a very specific way using a magnifying glass. Technical skill is extremely important for the end result, which is where doctors with considerable experience are able to achieve the best results. Dr Ney is one of the pioneers of the Botox and filler injections and has performed successfully many thousands of treatments in the last 15 years. » Which zones can be treated ?One full treatment (injection session 1 + 2) generally consists of three zones: full eye & mouth contour plus cheeks. The neck and décolleté can also be treated but not in the same session. Acne scar treatment is another option. » When is the result visible and how long does it last ?With this cell grafting process the results will appear progressively after the second treatment and increase over several months. The improvement in the skin quality and elasticity will last several years and "refresh" treatments are possible. » Does this technique replace other treatments (surgery, Botox) ?The best results are always obtained by combining soft treatments. One should understand that Esthegen will dramatically improve the quality of the skin, but cannot replace a lifting if skin loosening is too strong. Esthegen is the method of choice for areas which responded poorly following surgery: eye and mouth contour particularly. If frowning lines result from too much muscle activity, they will also be better treated by combining Botox and Esthegen. » What are the contra-indications of Esthegen ?Skin infection, coagulation disorders and a tendency to abnormal scarring are the contra-indications of fibroblasts injections. » How is my face after treatment ?Right after the treatment the face is swollen, and some bruises might appear, but are rare. This will resolve in a few days. Use of cosmetics is allowed the day after the procedure. Very important is that you avoid taking Aspirin or Vitamin E for 10 day before the injections as this increases the risk of bruises. » Can I make other treatments on my face later ?Of course ! As we are injecting your own cells, there is no danger to make other treatments. Thermage is particularly indicated one year after Esthegen. It is a radiofrequency sophisticated method to increase your own collagen and hyaluronic acid productions by stimulating the fibroblasts. As Esthegen has massively increased your fibroblasts population, this stimulation gives a particular good response. SCHEMA ESTHEGEN TREATMENT
